Verea Folk Festival
Festival Vereya is an annual folk festival held in Chicago, attracting over 40 dance groups from across the USA and Canada. Each year, the festival invites special guest performers from Bulgaria and other countries, along with various vendors, to showcase the best of Bulgarian folk culture. This vibrant event celebrates Bulgarian traditions through captivating dance performances, authentic music, and cultural exhibits.
Founded by Konstantin Marinov and organized by the members of the Vereya Club, the festival started as a small gathering with just a few ensembles celebrating traditional Bulgarian dances. This year, the festival brings together 37 ensembles from 14 American states and 7 dance troupes from Canada. In 2025, Festival Vereya will proudly mark its 15th anniversary, continuing its tradition of bringing together the Bulgarian community and folk enthusiasts for a memorable celebration.
